Joan Ruddock MPJoan Ruddock MP (Labour, Lewisham Deptford)

Joan Ruddock has been MP for Lewisham Deptford since 1987. She rose to national prominence in the early 1980s as Chair of CND.

Joan's career in Parliament has included a number of opposition spokesperson roles including transport and the environment. She was the first full-time Minister for Women in the new Labour government in 1997. She now sits on the International Development Select Committee.

Joan's particular political interests include international development, the environment and gender equality. She has been successful with two Private Members' Bills on household waste recycling and flytipping.
